India Adventure
Jan. 17 - Jan 30, 2010
A team of youth from the Northern Illinois Synod will travel with other
youth from Scandinavian countries, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia to celebrate
the 30th anniversary of youth ministry in Arcot Lutheran Church, India.
ALC is one of two Companion Synods of the Northern Illinois Synod, the
other being Tanzania. One thousand youth will gather in an outdoor camp
setting from January 22-26. They will participate in many activities in
the beautiful Kalvarayan Hills in the southernmost part of the Indian
Peninsula. The team will leave for India on January 17 and return on
January 30. They plan to visit Delhi, the capital of India, to see Taj
Mahal in Agra. Then, they will head south to the region of Tamil Nadu,
the location of ALC. The group will attend a leadership seminar and will
volunteer at the Danish Mission Hospital.
Russ Senti was tapped to go to India as part of the delegation from
Northern Illinois Synod Youth Team. Please pray for safety and good
health for the team and that God will be lifted up and glorified in all
their words and actions.

On Nov. 7-8, young and old assembled from five different ELCA
congregations to build a ramp for the wide community of differently
abled persons that, until now, did not have access to the the facilities
of First and
Santa Cruz.

The Ramp was dedicated on
Christ the King Sunday, Nov. 23rd, at 10am.

LOMC's first ever Christian music festival - The funds raised
through JUMP Music Festival will be used to create an endowment fund to
help children without the means to attend summer camps at Lutheran
Outdoor Ministries Center and Lutherdale Bible Camp.

Republic) - Milan came to
LOMC through the international program through the ELCA. He hopes to be
a pastor.

Tobias Bohl (from Glinde, Germany) came
to LOMC to improve his English. His dad is a pastor in the Hamburg area
of Germany.

2007
LOMC partnering with Lutherdale Bible Camp received an initial $35,000
grant from Thrivent to expand opportunities for urban youth to
experience summer camp through a fundraising, marketing and scholarship
program. This initiative is being called "Widening the Circle." Jim Zei
has been hired as the project director to increase awareness of outdoor
ministries and enhance support for this project. Check out the
JUMP Concert coming up!

LOMC gets re-accredited ! Every three years, LOMC
goes through a re-accreditation process with the American Camp
Association. This certification distinguishes LOMC as a camp that meets
mandatory standards for health, safety and program quality.

LOMC welcomes Kostya Subbotin to our summer staff! Kostya comes to us
from Cherboksary, Russia. He came to LOMC as part of an international
program through the ELCA.

counter refrigerators and microwaves in Dody
and Marander Lodges. Both lodges and the
hospitality center are WiFi enabled.
