Outdoor Living Camps

Canoe the scenic Rock River – Fish
in nearby waters – Cook over an open fire – Hike to Castle Rock State
Park. All of these back-to-nature adventures will teach you outdoor
living skills with your fellow campers in God’s creation. Some campers
stay in platform tents with bunks, called "hogans", and others stay in
frame tents with floors. You will prepare at least one meal a day
outdoors, as well as participate in many favorite camp activities.

Discoverer

Learn and fine tune your
outdoor living skills in Discoverer. Cook some meals over a campfire, canoe on
Paul’s Pond, and explore God’s creation as you stay in a “Hogan” (a platform
tent with bunk beds). |
Explorer
Grades 6-8

Explorer takes you
one step beyond Discoverer Camp. Your week of true exploration is in
the ravines of LOMC, in the hills of
Castle
Rock
State Park,
and on the waters of the Rock River. You take the popular overnight
river canoe trip and improve your outdoor living skills like cooking
special meals over a fire.

Earth Skills I

skills to build an indigenous-style shelter, discover food procurement using
traditional and improvisational methods, start a fire without matches, and more.
You'll spend most of your time outside and will be sleeping in hogans, a

can rise early to catch the big ones. Bring along your own fishing gear and
lucky hat.

is for you if you are inexperienced and want to learn the basic
“how-to’s” (baits, casting and lures) while you fish in our pond. |

Junior High Outpost

If you have a passion for living in the outdoors, then Jr. High Outpost is right for you.
Spend the week camped out in the wilderness, hiking and canoeing. Spend an
entire 24 hours o the prairie, and take an overnight canoe trip. |
Ozark Trip
Grades 9-12

Take this
adventurous trip to Lake of the Ozarks are in Missouri. You’ll enjoy canoeing,
cave exploration, and rock climbing in beautiful areas of
Illinois and
Missouri.
This trip is a joint adventure with Stronghold Presbyterian Ministry.

Spelunking

In case you are wondering,
“spelunking” means cave exploring. That is exactly what you do on this exciting
caving adventure at
Meramec State Park,
MO. You learn about caves and climb, crawl or canoe into – and out of – several
stunning caves. You’ll need to provide your own
grubby clothes and several sources of light.

Voyageur
Grades 6-9

For a full ten days
you put your camping skills to the test with the support of an outdoor
leader. Much like the voyageurs of old, you journey into the
back country stretches of LOMC (where you live in tents) and
Castle
Rock
State Park. A highlight of your stay is a three-day canoe trip on the
Rock River.
