Turtles like spring!
 Turtles
prepare for winter by going deep into the water or by digging a deep
burrow. They will slow down and hibernate for as long as the weather is
cold. Then when the spring comes, the turtles will warm up and become
active again. They will look for nice warm places to sit and enjoy the
sun.

There is no cost for this event, but a free-will offering will be taken.
 Also, the Turtle Trot will be back. Get your running shoes ready.
On Sunday, April 27 at 10:00am running participants will
kick off by taking in the sights of the scenic LOMC grounds. Walking
participants are expected to kickoff at 10:05am. The course will start
and finish near the main office with half of the course run on roads and
the other half run on trails. Many different amenities, such as, food &
drinks, awards and family events will be offered to race participants
this year.
Participants may
use one of three registration options to sign up for the event.
Pre-registration by mail will be offered for forms post marked by April
21, 2008 for a fee of $15.00. Make checks payable to "LOMC" and mail to:
Turtle Trot 5K Run/Walk, Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center, P.O. Box
239, Oregon, IL 61061. Online registration through Active.com is
available through April 25, 2008 for a fee of $15.00 plus a $3.00
surcharge.

$20.00 from 8:45am to 9:45am on Sunday, April 27 at the registration
tent near the main office of LOMC, 1834 South IL Route 2, Oregon, IL
61061. No refunds. Participant packets may be picked up at the
registration tent on Race Day between 8:45am—9:55am. Race day registrant
T-shirts are handed out on a first come, first serve basis.
Awards will be presented after the race to top overall
male and female finisher and the 1st three male and female finishers in
each of the following age categories: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29,
30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+over. Results will be
posted at www.lomc.org. Awards to be presented approximately 1 ½
hour after the start of the race.
