This
ministry runs on the prayers of the faithful, the generosity of our
donors, and the volunteer efforts of our friends.
LOMC has 650 acres
and 20 buildings. All retreat houses have bathrooms in each building and
bunk beds or single beds. Adult retreat buildings have private washrooms
for each room. Youth retreat houses hold up to 32 youth. Adult retreat
houses accommodate 18 to a building. Adult retreat houses are also
provided linens and a meeting hall. We have roughly 250 acre’s of
developed land and 400 of prairie, woods or farm land. All of this is
maintained by a Maintenance Staff of 3 fulltime people and one part-time
person and many areas for volunteers as follows:
1. Join
Hands Day, we have as many as 80 volunteers help with many different projects.
Painting, building, landscaping etc, and donate funds for projects. This
is a National event and we are just one site for people to make a
difference.
2. Memorial
Day Work Weekend, we have as many as 150 volunteers for the weekend. Getting camp
ready for summer. Projects range from erecting buildings, re-roofing,
landscape, cleaning, electrical, new path building etc. Last year 2005
we completed over 65 projects in one weekend.
3. Service
projects are done thru out the year by Lutheran Men in Mission, church
youth groups and other groups such as Focus House.
4. Many
volunteers just come out to mow lawns or work on projects. Come for a
day or come for a week. We can always use an extra pair of hands.
